Among the institutions most affected by corruption are the judiciary and police.
$1.26 trillion
Corruption, bribery, theft and tax evasion cost some US $1.26 trillion to developing countries per year; this amount of money could be used to lift those who are living on less than $1.25 a day above $1.25 for at least six years.
28.5 million school children
Approx. 28.5 million primary school age who are out of school live in conflict-affected areas.

The rules of law and development have a significant interrelation and are mutually reinforcing, making it essential for sustainable development at the national and international levels.

This Sustainable Development Goal strives to significantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere, starting by ending abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence against and torture of children. It strives to promote the rule of law at the national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all. It hopes to significantly reduce illicit financial and arms flows, strengthen the recovery and return of stolen assets and combat all forms of organized crime.

Here's How To Help
01. Start with Yourself
Start with making a personal commitment to nonviolence, and work at being an effective mediator and communicator so you can help those around you solve their differences in a non-violent manner. Work on self-control and calming methods.
02. Be Kind
Be kind to animals and those less fortunate than yourself. Teach children how to be gentle and kind to the vulnerable- homeless, disabled individuals, seniors, or anyone else that appears different to a child.
03. Take a Stand
Speak out against harassment, prejudice, discrimination, and bullying. Cultivate compassion, both within yourself and for those around you. Surround yourself with people with similar ideals and values for peace. You may be surprised how much stress you relieve in your life!
04. Learn About Human Trafficking
Educate yourself and those around you on human trafficking; how to avoid being a victim as well as recognizing dangerous situations. Discover how you can get involved in ending human slavery.
05. Get Involved in Your Local City
As difficult as human trafficking is to face, many cities have task
forces specifically for dealing with girls picked up from human slavery rings. Find out how you can get involved to help these women and children.
06. Avoid Threatening Situations
Be aware that potential offenders often frequent the locations where teens or young children are located, and can be men, women, children and teens themselves. Be careful when posting pictures of children online or on social platforms, especially with sensitive information about where the child will be.
07. Maintain the Peace
If you own a gun, make sure to be diligent that your ownership is legal and you have done all the necessary safety precautions. Get to know your neighbors to promote a sense of comradery and help minimize potential crimes and misunderstandings within a community.
